what do i need to know to travel across south america on a motorcycle?

I want to ride across south america on a triumph bonneville and want to know any useful info, like gun laws, money and points of interest. i dont care about bad neighborhoods or anything like that. i want to see the real side of south american life.

    Best and sure way is to contact the embassy of each country you will be going to and ask them questions. Better sure than sorry. And to Lance B above, that is a good one. I am right with you on that one. LOL

    A huge number of motorcyclists do this every year so it’s certainly not impossible to do. You’d be very well advised to speak decent spanish while crossing borders. You’ll most likely end up paying bribes so have small amounts of cash on you. Traveling through Mexico, you’ll need insurance and a tourist card, but you won’t need it other countries. For Mex insurance, see.
    The roads are generally great, though there are some spots that will be a challenge on a road bike. Do some research, sign up with Horizons Unlimited if you haven’t already.

    haha jokes aside, there are some countries like Ecuador were you cannot enter with a used vehicle. Chech that out first
