The trip will be throughout the (European) winter period, around September – spring, so I assume there will be large difference between temperatures in the North and South additionally..

Definitely Machu Picchu in Peru! Also a few other points of interest in Peru – Cuzco, Nasca (fly over the Nazca lines), the beach at Mancora (surfing hot spot), and everything about Lima you can (try to see the catacombs if you have a few hours free).

In Argentina, browse the capital Buenos Aires, but you absolutely have to see Iguazu – a handful of huge waterfalls that you can visit and see from three countries – Argentina, Brazil, or Uruguay because it’s at a border. (I recommend Argentina because that’s where I saw it from, but Brazil is supposed to be good too.)

In Venezuela is another waterfall, Angel Falls (Salto Angel). It has a distinction that I don’t remember well – either tallest in South America or in the world.

In Bolivia, Lake Titicaca is a total change from all the tourism.

In Chile, look into tours sights in Patagonia (southern, cold region).

Many more, sorry I can’t think of them off the top of my head!
